| ....and it's not as if this hasn't already been said, it's just in my own words.. I believe that since there were a very limited number of these cars ever built and after 15 or so years many of them have been wrecked, totaled, flooded, and so on. That's knocked alot of them off the roads. 39,000 or so in the US (something like that, right?) over all 6 years.
So then the Z33 comes out and the bottom drops out of the Z32's price range. Basically anything that's still in good shape or has low mileage will be able to get a decent amount for is getting harder to come by (Supras on the other hand, have been like this for awhile, but that damn movie had alot to do with it too). I think that our cars are the "underdogs" beneath all of this shit. We didn't get the "ricer" roles in movies and what not. People aren't like "holy cow that's a Z!!!" (Well, I am, but that's me!) like they do with supras and other cars that have been exploited in movies like the Supra, 240sx, eclipse and so on have. This leads us to the age of the cars... Because of this and because of the cheap price for used ones, many high schoolers and young kids have been buying these up. Generally, they usually "rice" them out, but I digress. Their lack of $$$ ends up having poor maintainence on the car... timing belt snaps (among other things) and they get rid of the car or even send it off to the scrap yard or part it out like I have seen done many times. Basically if you've got a good condition Z with low miles, original owner, you're a rarity. Not too many one owner Z32's left though...
That's just my opinion... but those are a few of the many reasons why "I" think we are a dying breed. (Hell, try to find an original owner 240z!!! We'll be like that one day... all due to time!)
